Thanksgiving 2005
Thanksgiving 2005. This time last year, we were celebrating Thanksgiving with our cousins in St. Louis, then hopped over to Lincoln, NE to take David to his first Husker game. Now, were are here in Georgia. No family. One of Jennie's nurse friends, Barbara Tew, and her family, invited the Olson clan to Thanksgiving at their house. Barb and her family are from Buffalo, NY. They don't have any family close by either.
The day started w/ Matt smoking ribs and sausage to take to the feast. Those New Yorkers had never had Texas style ribs and sausage for THANKSGIVING !! David dressed up in warm clothes and he and Matt played with the pups while mommy worked on the sweet potatos.
Off to the Tew's.......What a great time! The food was incredible! There were at least 6 different homemade pies! The turkey was huge! And the ribs and sausage was a big hit! The kids were so much fun. They raked up a big pile of leaves for David to jump in. That was something he had never done! WHAT A BLAST !!! He played and played and fell asleep in the car within 5 minutes when we started home.

BIG BOY BED !
David has "moved up" in the world. He now had a big boy bed. We slowly working at him taking all naps and sleeping here ALL night ! Wish us luck !
Ruby Falls in Chattanooga TN
On our way home from the mountain adventure, we decided to take the "long way" home. We drove to Chattanooga TN & went to Ruby Falls, a small underground cavern with a waterfall inside. David had lots of "ooohs & ahs" and "what's that"? along the way & love to touch the rocks. We are planning another trip to the TN aquarium!
Back to Nature
The Olson family took a fun trip to the north Georgia mountains. Blue Ridge, Georgia, to be exact. Even Molly & Herbie went! We stayed in a cabin, played in the leaves, walked by the creek, walked the dogs down long roads, rode the Blue Ridge Mtn Railway to Copperhill, TN, played in the hotub, ( one of David's favorite things ) & went to an apple orchard! A much needed vacation !

Uncle Matt made breakfast for us at Grammie's house. We had so much fun! David enjoyed sharing breakfast with Francis, Jackie, Aunt Sally and Grammie too!

David and Jennie went to Amarillo recently for the funeral of Uncle Johnny. We celebrated Jeff's 40th b-day and Denise's ??? :) birthday as well. We had fun with Uncle Matt, Aunt Sally, Francis, Grammie, Joey and Jackie too!
Halloween 2005 Puppy Dog David
David was a fuzzy puppy dog for Halloween this year. He was exactly thrilled w/ the costume, but did have fun riding in his wagon to go trick or treating. David even decorated his own pumpkin with stickers.

More meals with the Guldes!

On our recent trip to Chicgo, we went to dinner with Matt, Sally and Francis. We went to a really fun place in their neighborhood! Thanks guys! We had fun!
Children's Museum- Chicago
David, Mom and Dad took off to the Children's Museum in Chicago. We actually got in free due to Matt being active duty military. Thanks to the museum!
David had a wonderful time! One of his favorite activities was "calling" 911 on the phone. He played with giant bowling pins, chess pieces and flowers. He went "fishing" and climbed in a treehouse. Up and down the slide, spinning, jumping, driving a bus! WOW! What a day. We were ALL tired. David slept for 2 hours afterwards! What fun! We want to go back!

We had the pleasure of finally attending the annual Carlsson Family tailgater party! What a great time! Uncle Matt, Aunt Sally and Francis all loaded up in one car, and Matt, Jen, David and Grammie in another. Off to South Bend Indiana. We had great food, thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Carlsson! We had great laughs and were so happy to see Liz, Tina and Cindy and their families! David sure had fun playing with all the kids! Well, the outcome of the game wasn't so good, and Matt got sick before halftime due to an earlier pitstop at McDonalds. But fun was had by all. David now frequently sports one of his new Notre Dame tshirts.......yes, we still love the Huskers too. But.....GO IRISH !!!
Chicago Aquarium
On a windy Friday afternoon, David, Dad and Mom went to the Chicago aquarium. David loved the turtles, the crabs and the sea horses! We watched a dolphin show and laughed at the otters. David really loved the pinguins! Afterwards, we had Chicago style hotdogs at an outdoor picnic area, watched David feed chips to the pigeons and then we strolled along the breezy lakeside. It was great fun! David walked away with a stuffed sea otter, that he squeezes and hugs often!

Gymnastics !
David goes to gymnastics 1 - 2 times a week. Sometimes, Mom goes, sometimes Dad goes, sometimes, we all go as a family. He is one of the best in his age group, " The Birdies". He can do front & back rolls, walk on the balance beam, jump, run,climb,hang and so much more! Wouldn't it be great to have an olympic gymnist in the family? Maybe THIS is the gene he actually got from MOM !
I Love Oatmeal !
Daddy and Aunt Julia made me this delicious bowl of maple flavored oatmeal. Since I am so good at feeding myself, they were able to take a few pictures of me eating this yummy stuff.

A few new cell phone pics !
Here are some fun pictures we took with the cell phone camera. David loves to take early morning rides in his red wagon. He also loves to play with Aunt Julie, eat puffy cheetos riding around in a Walmart cart, then ride a horsey at Walmart. He then finishes the day by calling his Grandparents to inform them of all the fun he has had. If you give him a call, he will gladly talk to you on the phone. He might even say, "Lo? (hello), hey, yeah, or bye bye. Give him a ring! He is most proficient with the phone (he got this gene from Mommy).

Goggles
David put on his green swimming goggles today. He checked himself out in the mirror and saw that he looked faaaabulous. He walked around in mom's shoes, and being such a multitasker, he even pushed his wagon around, too!. Combine the goggles with his facination with the shower, and well, we thought you should all see these pictures. What a ham! And for the safety conscious grandmas: yes I did lock up the shower cleaner bottles that you see in the pictures! Out of reach from this smart little toot.
The FIRST haircut !
Well, we cut the pretty blonde locks hanging over David's ears. He had a blast! Unlimited cookies, bubbles, a fun chair, pretty girls, and unlimited attention. The buzzer was not even scary! Yes, we saved the hairs! Mommy got a little teary eyed. Dad loved it. Of course, Buddy looks even MORE like Daddy now!

Fun with the Gulde's in North Carolina
Dad went to Washington. So, Jennie and David drove to NC to see Uncle Jeff, Aunt Denise, Joey and Jackie!. They were all on vacation along with Denise's parents, Jo and Jimmy Gouge. We had a blast playing putt putt, playing on the swing, swimming, and square dancing! David even had "male bonding" time with Uncle Jeff, Joey and Jimmy, while mom and the girls did a little casino run! Don't worry, mom only lost $4.00. Thanks for a great time in NC! We had a blast! We love you guys!
I LOVE Spaghetti !!
We went to a Chicago style pizza place for Francis's birthday dinner. We had so much fun! David had his first plate of spaghetti and .......well, you decide whether or not you think he enjoyed it! By the way, if you eat spaghetti, it is mandatory to wear a Hawaiian print shirt. It makes the spaghetti taste even better. And you look maaaaavelous eating it.

Actually, it's Francy's bathtub! After a full day of activities including spaghetti, the Sears tower, a celebration of Francy's birthday, and.......well, let's just say that a bath hit the spot. All squeeky clean, with a little help/ kiss from Scoutie Dog ! This set will be fun to show them when they are in high school.......oh MOM/ Aunt Jen! I can just hear them now.....

Fouth of July Celebrations !
We had a blast at Centennial Park in downtown Atlanta ! Now we know why it is called "Hotlanta" ! Whew ! 5 hours was a lot ! But David was a trooper and loved all of it. Especially playing with all the kids in the water ! We drank water, ate ice cream, watched the parade and had so much fun ! We didn't stay for the fireworks due to impending rain. We made it home about 5 minutes before the storm ! We ate hamburgers and David went to sleep! Didn't see one fireworks display. Matt and I watched on TV and out our front door, as our neighbors put on quite a display ! Thanks to Grandma Bitsy and Poppy for the backpack ! Wouldn't have made it without it !

David loves to swim ! He is a fishy, just like his mommy. He likes to ride in his boat, throw things in the water, splash splash splash, kick kick kick, and he even jumps from the side to mom and dad! We go swimming alot. Dad even takes David swimming after work while Mom is still working ! If you come visit us, you have to bring your swimming suit !

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME
Part of Matt's gift for Father's Day was a pair of tickets to the Braves vs Orioles game on Sat. June 25th. It was David's first baseball game. He did super and was definitely the hit of the crowd. He looked awesome in his Braves ballcap and people loved our backpack carrier! He even "danced" with the powerpuff girls and then took a nap thru the first 2 innings. He ate chips, ice cream and got dirty, just like you should at your first baseball game.

The day after my birthday was fun too!
I felt much better after my party. I ate chocolate cake, rode in my wagon to the park, and even got on the swing!
MY NEW RED WAGON FROM GRAMMIE !
Grammie gave me this super cool red wagon! I absolutely LOVE riding in it. It has room for my friend, Ernie. It has juice cup holders and it even has seatbelts! I have been riding in it almost every day! Thanks Gram!
THE BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR DAVID
David's 1st birthday party was on Saturday, June 11th. We originally planned an ice cream party, but we got rained out. It turned out even better, as we celebrated at home with cake, ice cream, cupcakes, popcicles, soda, and other goodies. Amy, David's sitter, and her family came. So did Mom's friend, Laura, and her 2 kids, Grandpa Dave and Grandma Judy,and mom's other friend, Laura and her family. David wasn't sure about eating his cake. He did enjoy playing with all the other kids and playing with his new toys. Pretty good for a kid that was sick! Thanks to all for making it such a great party!
June 10, 2005. David's 1st Birthday
Our precious boy had his 1st birthday. What an incredible year. I took these pictures of him to remember this day. He was so wonderful, even though he was pretty sick with an upper respiratory infection and having to take antibiotics. David is playing the the Lincoln Logs that Uncle Matt, Aunt Sally, and Francis sent. He wanted to play in the big pool the Uncle Jeff, Aunt Denise, Joey and Jackie sent, but Mommy hadn't blown it up yet ! Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful gifts! A DAY AT THE PARK !
We went to the park to play. It was VERY HOT ! David played on the equipment that is special for "little" guys his age. It was too hot to go down the slide, so we are going to go back! His favorite thing to do was play in the fountain with dad! The cold water felt great !
A Day At The Atlanta Zoo !
David, Dad and Mom took their first trip to the Atlanta Zoo ! Fun was had by all! David rode on the merry go round, pet a billy goat, made faces at the gorillas and panda bears, and growled at the tigers. His favorites were the turtles and snakes! YUCKIE ! He growled and clapped and laughed! We plan on going again!
