Olson Summer- Part 4- Beginning of August

August......more heat and more fun. Aunt Terri came from Amarillo to visit us. We had so much fun! It was too short of a trip!. Of course we spent time at the pool, but we also did some other fun things. The highlight of her visit was our trip to Annapolis, Maryland. We took a boat ride out to a light house. David sported his new green sailor's hat and loved the big ships. He even got to hang out with the captain of the ship at the front of the boat. Then, we went to Buddy's Crabs (just so happened to be next door to Zachary's jewelers. HA!) We ate all you can eat crabs. Check out David's awesome crab hat! We even made it home w/ 4 new crab hammers and a Buddy's t shirt for our Buddy. Thanks for coming Aunt Terri! Please come back soon!

August also brought Daddy's work picnic. We only stayed a little while, as it was too hot outside for Zach. Just wanted you all to see David in his awesome Scooby Doo outfit. He LOVES anything Scooby right now. Looking good Scooby!

Olson Summer- Part 3- End of July

July brought us HEAT and travels. And lots of swim time. Mommy, Zachy and David took a trip to Amarillo. Zachy's first plane ride. We spent nearly every day at "Aunt" Terri's pool. Cousins Jacki and Joey even went with us. Thanks to Aunt Terri for all the swim lessons. David came home a great swimmer! We hung out a Grammie's house with Uncle Hunkie and Aunt Jerry, worked in Grammies flowerbeds and David and Jacki spent lots of fun time at "Jump -n-Jive". BOUNCE BOUNCE ! The kids were ready to get back home to Daddy, as you can see in the last few pictures. Everyone was tired too. I got a couple of pics of the boys napping. Great way to end July.......stay tuned for more!

Olson Summer- Part 2- Beginning of July

Happy 4th from the Red White and Blue gang. We all dressed up in our patriotic outfits to celebrate the 4th. Jeff, Denise, Joey, Jacki and Grammie were still here visiting, so we celbrated PART of the holiday with them. They all took off to the Big Apple, NYC, to see a Broadway show !!! The Olson's packed it up and went over to visit our friends, the Triola's (Margaret is Jennie's super duper friend), and we celebrated with fireworks and yummy food. You can see David laughing at the loud fireworks. He thought they were great but then got "too loud !!!" So he went back in the house to play. We finished up the week with family and carousel rides at the mall. Zachy, of course, got tons of hugs, kisses, cuddles and love from everyone. He's a loveable little guy!

David has been learning to swim. He has a really great friend whose name is, of course, Matthew. His mommy is Jessica and the baby brother is Thomas. We have spent nearly every day and weekend at the pool. David got his mom's genes when it comes to water. He's a FISH!. Here are some pictures of David and his friend, Matthew at the local pool. WE LOVE THE WATER !!!

Olson Summer Part I - End of June

Ok, I finally got around to posting pictures. We've been BUSY around here!. So June, of course, brought us little Zachy. But we also celebrated David's 3rd birthday. TWICE !! We celebrated on June 10th, his actual birthday. Thanks to some serious present wrapping, set up and hard work by Aunt Sally and Grammie. Then at David's request, we had a "Backyardigans Party" with Uncle Jeff, Aunt Denise, Joey, Jackie and Grammie. They were all visiting as Jacki was here for the Junior National Youth Leadership Conference. Way to go Jacki!! We had so much fun! Jacki was a big help with Zachary and David. Grammie and David worked diligently on keeping Mommy's flowers and tomato plant alive. The boys did some serious fishing! What a great way to finish up June, a busy month here in the Olson household. Stay tuned for more summer pictures!

Finally, Zachary John Olson 6-5-07

Better late than never. Finally found a moment to put pictures up of our newest family member. Zachary John Olson was born June, 5 2007 at 4:30 AM. He weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz and was 19 3/4 inches long. He looks EXACTLY like his big brother, David, who is madly in love with his new brother. What can we say. He's awesome and getting bigger by the day. Week one, he lost a little weight. Week two, he weighed 8# 2 oz. Week 3, 9 # 4 oz, and week 4, he was up to 10 # 4 oz. and 20 inches long. Perfect in every way. Apologies for the delay, but we are busy here! Thanks to Grammie, Grandma Bee Bee and Aunt Sally for all the help. Zachy misses you all! Welcome Zachary, to the Olson household.

Memorial Day Leesburg Petting Zoo

We had a great day at the petting zoo in Leesburg. The area is so beautiful and we found some fun places to visit on the weekends. David really liked feeding the llamas, "rein"deer , baby goats and baby piggies. He chased a turkey and several chickens, rode a pony and even got a chuckle at the puppet show even though he initially tried to convince his parents that he "really won't like it". Mommy liked the donkey, the giant tortise and the macaw birds. Daddy had to carry Buddy in part of the petting area as those crazy goats were getting rowdy. The camel and llama were pretty cool though. David finished the day with a yummy Sponge Bob Square Pants ice cream bar. Perfect. And for those of you that have been asking for my stomach pictures, look closely and you will get a couple of free shots. Ridiculously huge. Enough said. Anyway, we had a great time over this long weekend holiday!

Mother's Day Sheep Shearing?

Ok, this is a couple of weeks late. Better late than never. David's Pop Pop was in town for the weekend of Mother's Day. We decided to go to the nearby working farm for sheep shearing day. We had a great time! We got to watch the sheep being shaved for the summer, ride a wagon around the park, play with the animals, see the new baby piggies, "ride" a red tractor and do arts and crafts. The little sheep and construction paper placemat that David made are proudly displayed on the fridge for those that will be visiting to admire! What a fun Mother's Day at Frying Pan Park Sheep Shearing Day!

Pop-pop was here this weekend to bring us our boat and do a little fishing in the process. He was let into the secret order of urbanTrout fishermen as our honey hole is a deeply protected secret among a handful of locals. Caught some Rainbows, a couple Crappie, and a few Bass. Overall, we had a great weekend and we miss Pop-pop already.

Rock Bass and Sun Fish

Rock Bass and Sun Fish
Originally uploaded by Jennie Olson.
OK. So all along, we've noted that David has caught "this fish" and "that fish". Maybe these were little "fish" stories of their own, if you get my drift. MAYBE, Daddy helped David just a little bit. But today, after actually digging up the worms in our backyard, David CAUGHT SOME FISH BY HIMESELF ! On HIS fishing pole that really had a little hook on it with the REAL worms. Those crazy fish were biting faster that we could count. We lost count after about 15. So today was a MOST sucessful day for the Olson anglers! If it wouldn't have started raining, we would have been fishing in the dark!

Sunday, April 22, 2007

"We got 3 big bass," says David.

David and Daddy went fishing AGAIN this morning. This has now become a near daily occurance. They have had a dry spell the last few days then WHAM, 3 bass this morning. David squealed so loud you could hear him on the other side of the lake! We've got quite the fishermen here at the Olson house.

The festival is in line with the cherry blossom festival, as the Japanese originally gave the trees to DC as a gift. We had a great time eating "not good for you" type food and watching all the fun Japanese artists display their goods. We even had stranges ask if they could have their picture made with David because he looked so cute as a puppy dog! We had a worn out puppy at the end of the day!

Happy Easter from the Olson Family- 2007

Happy Easter from the Olson Family!
We spent the Easter weekend in Amarillo visiting Grammie and the Guldes! What fun! The Easter Bunny made a "special trip" to Grammie's house to find David! AND, "O Jeff" and "O 'Nise" brought a special bag of Easter goodies to David as well. What a fun weekend! From bubbles to eggs to chocolate to spiderman to Crayola supersize chalk, we think Easter was great this year! Happy Easter from the Olsons!

Happy Birthday Grammie ! Surprise !

Surpise to Grammie on her birthday!! The Olson clan made a surprise "quick trip" to Amarillo to celebrate Grammie's birthday with her. As luck would have it, we celebrated Easter with her too! We had a blast eating a Red Lobster with "O" Jeff, "O" Denise, Jacki and Jo Jo. Just check out the remains of only ONE of the crab plates. Grammie celebrated with a big icecream sundae! Back to Gram's for more fun and a Superman impression by David. We woke up on Saturday to SNOW and cold weather, but it didn't stop us from having more weekend fun with the Guldes! Yummy Texas steak at Logans and more fun at Gram's was a perfect ending to a great weekend. Happy Birthday Grammie!! Hope you liked your surprise! Thanks to the Guldes for a super fun weekend!

Fish, Worms, Kites...Boys Boys Boys

What a great weekend. I have to admit, boys are pretty fun. Good thing, as I will be outnumbered soon. We spent all of Sunday fishing and playing. We went to 2 different lakes! We played with Daddy's fishing worms, and even caught 2 fish! David stuck his finger right in the mouth of the small mouth bass without hesitation. We flew our kite and ended the day with a few pushes the swing. What a great day! Love them boys!

And...the cat came back, he couldn't stay away!

Our beloved Morris Kitty has been gone most of the winter. At one point, we even posted a "lost cat" notice on the local animal control web page. We even thought that maybe the harsh winter had done the poor kitty in. BUT NO ! We spotted him down the street a few weeks ago. He apparently is mad at us again and has taken up temporarily with new friends. He did grace us with his presence 2 whole days in a row . So we grabbed the camera to record this most historic event! Unfortunately, we only got a couple of shots as Morris darted out the door, back to see his kitty buddies down the street.

The Sun! The Sun ! YIPEEE!

It only lasted for 2 days, but we were happy! The warm sun came out and we had near 80 degree weather! We even considered putting on sunscreen! David grabbed an orange popcicle, some yogurt, juice and other various snacks, along with his chair and teddy. We headed out at 10:00 in the morning for some "sunning" on the front porch. He proclaimed that he needed his "shades", hence the cool dude look. COME BACK WARM SUNSHINE !!

What's Up With the Weather !!!

Ok, so 2 weeks ago, we had a minimum of 5 inches of snow. Cold, blowing, deep snow. David and our neighbors, Zhara and Imani, built an 80's retro pink haired, punk type snowman, went sledding on the hill, and did a little work with the daddys and a shovel. Best part of the day was coming inside and sharing hot chocolate and girl scout cookies! We want warmer weather please!

Luray Caverns, A Bag of Rocks and a SNAKE !

We had a fun 4 day weekend over Presidents Day. We decided to venture to Luray, VA, about an hour or so away. There is a natural caverns there, similar to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. We took an hour long guided tour down in to the "cave" , as David called it. David's favorite part was getting to buy a bag of different colored polished rocks, and then a "pretend" rattlesnake. Upon leaving the "cave", we went outside to discover SNOW ! What a fun day we had!

Unfortunately, when we tossed David on top of the pile, he SANK TO THE BOTTOM! Scared us all for a second, but he quickly recovered and stuck to riding on the smaller pile in the wheelbarrow! Fun times in the fall at our house!

Lions and Trains and Rock Stars, OH MY !!

Halloween 2006. David decided to be Thomas the Tank Engine for Halloween. No surprise. But then, he spotted the lion costume. The decision was a tough one, but Thomas won out. We had so much fun going trick or treating with our neighbors, Zahara and Imani, the rock stars. And Grammie was a champ. She stayed at our house and gave out candy to all the goblins that came by. Next time you call us, ask David to give you his best , "TRICK OR TREAT" !!!!! Sometimes, he'll even be a toot and say, "smell my feet, P.U." Happy 2006 Halloween!

"O Jeff" and Jacki. David calls "Uncle Jeff, O Jeff". FUN FUN! Then we got up at 4:30 in the morning to head out to see the balloons. Rain caused a delay, but up up up went most of the balloons!! What a great time! Thanks, Guldes, for sharing this SUPER COOL day with us!!!! We had a BLAST !!!

Silverton and Durango Colorado Trip with Grammie

We spent a glorious week on vacation with Grammie. We drove to Durango Colorado in one day. We boarded the Silverton / Durango steam engine train the next morning and took a beautiful 3 hour ride up the mountain to Silverton Colorado. The scenery was incredible! After taking a nap in our hotel room that was built in 1802, we walked the tiny town to find a restaurant. We BARELY missed the brief ice storm that hit! It came and went and the sun was out! We toured the town more and even found a little grocery store! We went to bed early, then arose, packed our bags and went to eat a yummy breakfast at a little cafe. CHECK OUT THE PICTURES OF DAVID'S PANCAKE !! After shopping around, a quick fishing excursion by daddy and David, and taking a few pictures, we loaded up and headed back down the mountain for a 3 hour ride to Durango. We drank hot chocolate, caught a few zzzzz's and enjoyed the scenery. Check out our movies of the train ride!

Jennie's 20 year Tascosa High School Reunion

20 years! Wow! Came and went in a flash. Though there are only a couple of pictures of us, I put all of these on here anyway. What a great time we had. I can't believe I hesitated at the idea of going! Tascosa won by a landslide at the football game, the get togethers were fun, (though we stayed out WAY TOO LATE)! Thanks to Grammie and Jacki for watching David. Though finding out about the loss of one of my dear friends was a sad moment, overall, the entire weekend was spectacular. Favorite moments? Showing off my hunk of a husband and our beautiful son to all my friends, and getting escorted to the football game by my Tascosa High School freshman attendee nephew, Joey.................Can't believe that either!
Sure am looking forward to the next reunion!

Stretching Lessons from Aunt Sarah

Aunt Sarah came to visit ! YIPPEE! She does her stretching and yoga daily. After exercising and stretching with Aunt Sarah, David has learned few moves. One day, he quietly went to his room and rolled out his own stretching mat. He came and got me, and proclaimed that he was "stretching". Then, he went into his closet, tried to put on his Superman shoes (that are too small), then climbed on the side of the crib proclaiming, "I'm Superman!". If stretching makes you feel like you are superman, I"M STARTING TOMORROW !!! WE love you Aunt Sarah! Thanks for making us feel like SUPERMAN !!!

He is a few months younger that David. David calls him , "Baby". David has now played with Declan twice and both times he had so much fun! Declan is precious!! The only time David shed a tear, was when Declan tried to get on David's prized horsey. After a kiss and hug from Mommy, David decided to not only let Declan ride the horse, butto help him put on the necessary cowboy hat. The two boys fell asleep after a bunch of fun and laughs! This is good for Mr. Olson, as he is learning how to share. A new thing that he has NOT been fond of. HA !
